Regarding certain events today
Statement for posterity
This is regarding certain events of a political nature that transpired within a certain country which shall go unnamed will September. I have altered so many names here that it will take a discerning reader to understand what I mean.
A certain personage, let’s call him Pater Conscriptus Lapidus, sought refuge among certain people whom I know of. This Pater Conscriptus Lapidus had fled possible prosecution by an agency we shall call the Intermarium Iudicium contra Scelesti. These certain people whom I know of agreed to be his intercessors regarding the local government and sympathetic organs of bureaucracy, law enforcement, and the like.
Today, however, Pater Conscriptus Lapidus suddenly reappeared in the Domus Patrum Conscriptorum. He entered the curia and gave his suffrage in the contest over the fasces of the presiding chair, joining the move to cast down Soter from the first seat and raise another in his place.
If anything, this was a courageous move. A man hunted by many powers chose to walk into the hall of power and act in front of cameras rather than remain hidden. Whatever else may be said of Pater Conscriptus Lapidus, today he did not behave as cargo.
But the consequence is clear. By that act, Pater Conscriptus Lapidus has passed from the protection of his intercessors into the Domus Patrum Conscriptorum, whose privileges he invoked. The Patres Conscripti have taken him under their protection. Therefore the question of his person, his custody, and his exposure now belongs to them.
I have demanded an explanation from the relevant parties as to what exactly transpired today: how he left their refuge, by whose arrangement he entered the Domus Patrum Conscriptorum, what understandings were made, and whether any hand used the name of the Riverbank dwellers without authorization.
Until that explanation is given, my position is simple. Lapidus is no longer my responsibility, nor is he the responsibility of the Riverbank dwellers. No Riverbank dweller organ, intermediary, officer, patron, or household is to shelter him, move him, bargain for him, or answer for him. He chose the Domus Patrum Conscriptorum. The Patres Conscripti chose him. Let them now keep what they have taken. As for us, we wash our hands.
